Quality Assurance Standards
Overview of Quality Assurance Standards
NIJSHA Enterprise ensures every product meets strict quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements. We work closely with our suppliers to maintain full traceability, proper documentation, and compliance with all purchase order specifications. Inspections, testing, and certification are performed to guarantee that each component and finished product performs reliably and safely.
Our quality process covers every stage of production, from material sourcing to final delivery. By holding suppliers accountable and enforcing clear quality assurance standards, we reduce errors, prevent delays, and ensure our customers receive products that meet their exact needs. Reliability and consistency are built into everything we deliver.
Supplier Quality
Assurance Requirements (SQAR)
These clauses apply when referenced in the purchase order (PO) and supplement all other PO requirements. Applicable specifications are those in effect at the time of RFQ unless otherwise stated.
Government Source Inspection (GSI) is required prior to shipment when specified. The supplier must notify the appropriate government representative upon receipt of the order. Evidence of GSI must accompany shipment.
NIJSHA Enterprise Source Inspection may be required. The supplier must ensure readiness, provide all documentation and equipment, and cover costs if inspection is missed. Rejected items may require re-inspection. Requirements include qualification verification, in-process inspection, pre-cap visual per MIL-STD-883, final inspection/testing, and First Article Inspection (FAI) per AS9102 prior to first delivery.
The supplier shall maintain a quality system compliant with applicable standards such as ISO 9001, MIL-I-45208, or other approved systems. Calibration must meet ANSI/NCSL or ISO standards. Nonconforming material requires NIJSHA approval. NIJSHA reserves audit rights.
Changes to design, materials, manufacturing, or testing after approval require resubmission for approval per applicable MIL standards.
Objective evidence of quality must accompany all shipments, including certificates of compliance, calibration, test data, and inspection results. Records must include PO number, part number, traceability, and be retained for seven years. Additional requirements apply to microcircuits, PROMs, PIND testing, and screening per applicable MIL standards.
Suppliers must maintain workmanship standards compliant with applicable MIL and IPC standards and provide documentation upon request. A Statement of Work (SOW), if applicable, is mandatory.
Special processes such as casting, welding, radiographic, magnetic particle, and chemical/physical testing must comply with specified MIL standards, with certified reports provided.
Limited life materials must be properly identified and not exceed shelf-life limits. Failure analysis and corrective action are required when applicable. Acceptance Test Procedures must be submitted in advance.
Suppliers are responsible for sub-tier compliance with MIL-STD-1535 and all PO requirements. Full traceability by lot or serial number is required.
Marking, PCB identification, and packaging must meet PO and MIL requirements, including ESD protection. Only approved packaging materials may be used.
Semiconductor and software quality requirements must comply with applicable MIL and NIJSHA standards, with NIJSHA retaining review rights.
Printed circuit boards must meet inspection and testing requirements, including Group A inspection and solderability samples.
Non-standard parts require prior approval. QPL requirements apply where specified. All items must be interchangeable unless approved otherwise.
Clause group applicability is defined per item type. Some items may be exempt from QA requirements if stated in the PO.
A Quality Assurance Standards Plan may be required prior to production. Commercial items may follow modified requirements.
All items must be permanently and legibly marked with supplier identification, part number, revision, and applicable indicators such as ESD sensitivity.
